The latest film productions can be seen in the six cinemas of the cinema complexes Ideal and Schloss. This schedule is complemented by the screenings and events of the Freier Film Aarau film club, the Spanish Film Club and the Zauberlaterne (Magic Lantern) Children’s Film Club.

An open-air cinema is set up near the racecourse in summer. In addition to this, the international One Minute Film & Video Festival has established itself in Aarau since 2004 and attracts an ever-increasing audience to the canton’s capital.

Kinocenter Ideal and Kinocenter Schloss

The Kinocenter Ideal has four cinemas (Ideal, Clou, Graffiti and Nova); the Kinocenter Schloss contains two cinemas: Schloss 1 and Schloss 2.

Aarau’s open-air cinema is set up at the covered racecourse in Schachen and has 1,000 seats.
