Festivals

Many music festivals and open-airs are held in Aarau each year. The schedule includes folk music and hip-hop, as well as jazz and metal.

"Musig i de Altstadt" Festival

Since the first time it was held in 2005, the festival "Musig i de Altstadt" (music in the old town centre) has been attracting an ever-increasing audience to the side streets of the canton’s capital. It takes place every year on the last weekend in August in the market hall, and restaurants, bars and clubs of the old town. Both regional and national performers liven up the city centre musically and create a very special meeting place.
